Salvatore’s home, specifically his bathroom, was not safely accessible by his motorized wheelchair. A home modification was necessary for Salvatore to enter and utilize his bathroom in a safe manner. Multiple Sclerosis is the second costliest disease behind heart disease and a home modification was not feasible for Salvatore.
Our foundation set out to raise the money needed to modify Salvatore’s bathroom and alongside the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, we did just that. The doorway and vanity os Salvatore’s bathroom were both modified using our funds, as well as the bathtub, which was replaced with a wheelchair accessible shower stall.
“I can now shave and brush my teeth no problem,” said Salamone, adding that his quality of life has improved greatly. “It is wonderful now.”
